Just another typical day, but with Pandas

Hi, I’m Mayumi from Japan. I joined the panda keeper program as a participant at the end of last month. This is my 3rd time to join this program. I love panda very much and I enjoyed this program last two times. So that’s why I’m back again!
Ya’an Bifengxia base is huge area and great location. Not too crowded to see the panda.ย We can relax and see panda very close. We arrived at panda base, meet staff, got my uniform, grabs, and participation card.ย Already excited! After I walked to panda base, yes!! Lovely pandas are there!
Unfortunately, they’re renovating panda kindergarten and another panda area at that time. So Couldn’t see panda cubs this time.
1st day to see our keeper and pandas at our workplace.ย Only 4 participants this time, so we looked after 8 pandas with keepers.ย No visitors around this area. It’s a big difference compared to last time.ย Our keepers are friendly and kindly to tell us what we need to do.ย Cleaning inside area and backyard, feeding, cleaning public area and bins.
ย That’s our main jobs. We did this job for 3 days.ย But I was never bored.
Pandas show us different face every day, every time!ย They’re same as the human and like the human. Funny, adorable. My favorite panda was Han Yuan! She was like a princess. Lovely face and elegant panda. And another female panda JiaJia. Hope she is pregnant and we see the baby soon!ย
Some panda base staff and accommodation staff are remember me from last time.ย It was great. Food was beautiful at the hostel. Also, we had lunch at panda base.ย Even it was not too bad. And I enjoyed night activity, too.ย
I would like to say big thank you to local coordinator Fiona and who was someone looking after me.ย It was a memorable trip! Definitely, I’ll be back again and I recommend this program.ย
